When starting JoomPlanet we weighed our options with licensing.  There are several paths we could have chosen.  We decided to provide our users with the absolute BEST level possible.  Joomla! is Open Source, we firmly agree with their policies and therefore we have decided to license all of our components as GNU/GPL.

This means the source code is not encrypted, no files are restricted, there are no expensive contracts, no restrictions.
